Sliding Scale

We live in a White supremacist, capitalistic, patriarchal society which unequally distributes privilege, power, and resources. I believe everyone deserves a high quality of life -- including access to amazing bodywork. In both acknowledgement and challenge of systemic inequality, I use a sliding-scale payment model. I trust clients will honestly consider the guidelines below and offer payment proportionate to individual level of access, privilege, and resources.

Consider paying less if you...

  • experience economic discrimination due to racism

  • have significant debt

  • have immigration-related expenses

  • experience violence and discrimination due to being trans, queer, and/or intersex

  • are eligible for public assistance

  • are descended from enslaved people or Indigenous North Americans (I view my sliding scale as one way I can contribute to reparations)

  • live with chronic pain, illness, or disability

  • have employment barriers to incarceration history

  • have medical expenses not covered by insurance

Consider paying more if you...

  • own your home

  • have investments, retirement accounts, or inherited money

  • travel for recreation

  • work part-time or are unemployed by choice

  • have access to family money and resources in times of need

  • have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education (or gender and racial privilege, class background, etc.) Even if you are not currently exercising your earning power, I ask you to recognize this as a choice.
